Essay

This year was special and different from the others assuming that this was my first year at specialty. In the summer I had to take a big decision, I had to choose my specialty, this situation made me remember when I was in the school and I had to decide my future career. But the decision wasn’t so difficult and I decided to take: Physical Anthropology and this is the topic that I discuss, together with the assessment of my academic year.

This year was very different from the other in the university, because the rhythm of academic life changed a lot. The courses were more demanding, difficult and stressful; these things affected my personal life and my relation with my family friends and boyfriend. The first semester started great, I liked the courses and I had enough time to do all my things without stress, but the entire situation changed in the middle of the year, we had too much things, and in these time I thought: there are too much things, I don’t have enough time to do all of these. Product of that I was very stress since middle year until the end of the semester. When I began the second semester all the things went worse than before, because the courses became difficult and demanding.
For all this changes I realized I should take things seriously, since this moment I studied more, I worked harder than ever to pass the courses. All this made me realize that my career was the most important at this minute, so I had to work harder than ever.
This year means a lot to me because I realized that to achieve what I have to sacrifice that I love as c: out with my friends and have fun. However, I realized that race really excites me a lot, so I've learned many things unimaginable, and there is much more to learn.

Finally, my bottom line this year is extremely positive, but I found everything is stressed become more complicated in every way. This allows me to see the important things in life that are worthwhile, why should fight and risk. Thus I discovered my priorities in life.
I think choosing physical anthropology as a career was the best decisions I ever made in my life, for the first time in my life I feel that isn´t wrong and I love feel this kind of things. I have the opportunity to discovered interesting things that had never before even imagined, things that leave you open your mouth and you will never be forgotten

Films anf cinema

I really enjoy the films and go to the cinema. But I haven’t gone for a time, because I have to do a lot of things for the university. I like a lot of kid of films like: comedy, drama, epic, war, etc. But there is a film I really love: the notebook, the film starts in a nursing home with an older man reading to an older woman (she has Alzheimer), whose memory is slipping from her more and more every day. He reads the story of two lovers Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) who meet in the south at a carnival, they spend the whole summer together but Allie is forced to move and go to college although she was willing to give it up for Noah. Seven years pass and Allie meets and falls in love with a soldier. When seeing Noah's picture in the paper, Allie is drawn back to him. They spent a few days together and she doesn't want to leave. Allie has to chose between her fiancé and Noah. The most emotion part she had herself written their story in the notebook with the instructions for Noah to "Read this to me, and I'll come back to you." In the final part a nurse finds them in bed together, having both died peacefully holding each other's hands.
I have seen this film two times, and I want to see it again because I love it, I think this film make me remember my grandmother, and it makes me think like the love between two people can be so
great. I totally recommend this film, in fact with my college friends we comment a lot the film and we reached the conclusion: how this kind of love can exist? And we thought: I really want to live something like this. For all this things You must see this movie!

Fossil Ardi reveals the first steps of the human race Thursday 1 October 2009 15.30 BST

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2009/oct/01/fossil-ardi-human-race
In the last time a new discovered had revolution the Paleoanthropology and it become in the most important regarding human evolution in the past century. Some researchers (White et al) found the remains of a female who lived and died at the dawn of humanity have been uncovered in Ethiopia, giving the clearest picture yet of the origin of our species. These skeleton is the oldest remain from a human ancestor ever discovered, belonged to a female who walked on two legs but was adept at climbing trees and moving through the forest canopy some 4.4m years ago. The researchers named the skeleton Ardi, belongs to a new species Ardipithecus ramidus and may be the earliest human ancestor ever discovered that was capable of walking upright. The investigation shows Ardi stood four feet (1.2m) tall and weighed a little under eight stone (50kg), making her similar in size and weight to a living chimpanzee. But many of Ardi's features are far more primitive than those seen in modern apes, suggesting chimpanzees and gorillas have evolved considerably after they split from the common ancestor they shared with humans. Measurements of Ardi's skeleton reveal she had a brain the size of a chimp's, but very long arms and fingers, and opposable toes that would have helped her grasp branches while moving through the forest. The discovery of Ardi provides vital clues about the earliest human ancestor that lived at the fork in the evolutionary road that led to humans on one side and chimps on the other.

Santiago

I born in Santiago but all my childhood I lived in country near Rancagua. I lived there in my grandfather’s large farm, with my uncle, grandmother, relatives and my sister. I lived there until I was 5 years old and then we moved to Santiago. I have been here since I was five or six years ago when I began the school.
So I can say: I live in Santiago most of my life, however, I don’t know very well the city on many occasions I have missed in different places like: city center and independecia. But in Santiago there are typical places for foreigner tourist visit like Santa Lucia hill; Farellones and El Colorado (ski centers) and San Cristobal hill.
A foreigner tourist should take a city tour with an agency or on their own, with this activity he can know the typical places from Santiago, and if he like one place a lot, he can he can return by his account. In the night he could go out to a pub or discotheque, and know the night in Santiago. Is very important find a good place to stay, because there are places to much noisy and dirty, and for a comfortable stay is important find a quiet hostel or hotel and a good location, like providencia, because there you are in a central place where everything is accessible.
If I were a foreigner tourist I must visit in Santiago:
o Santa Lucia hill: is a small hill in the downtown. Its first use by its conquerors was as a point of reconnaissance, or a lookout in the years of the Conquista. I think this is a very important place in Santiago for the architecture and history.
o San Cristobal hill: is a hill in northern
Santiago and the peak is the second highest point in the city. At the peak, there is a church with an amphitheater. Cerro San Cristóbal houses Santiago's largest public park: Parque Metropolitan. This place is enormous and there you can do many activities like: go to the zoo, climb the hill walking or cycling and make barbecues.
o Ski centers: near Santiago there are two important ski centers like: Farellones, Valle Nevado, Lagunillas, La Parva and El Colorado. In these places there are restaurants and hotels where you can eat and stay. I think these are beautiful places where you can practice ski and/or snowboard and have fun.
o Plaza San Enriquez: is place where you can find a lot of discotheques. I think in this place you can know how the night is in Santiago, and enjoy the night with very good music.
o The Concha y Toro Winery: This is a wine tour. I think these is important is considering that Chile is a country that exported wine and there are many vineyards

MUSIC

In my life the music is a complement, because the music for me is the meaning of entertainment. I listen music when I travel in bus, in my free time, when I stay with my friends. I mean when I don’t have nothing to do or to do the ambient more comfortable.
My favorite music stile are pop, reggeton and electronic. My preferred pop singers are Rihana, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Michael Jackson and Shakira. And my favorite reggeton singers are wisin & yandel, big yamo and zion &lenox. If I were a musician I like to sing pop music, because I think this kind of music make you feel alive and energetic. Because to such as these songs gives you the possible to make great performance with incredible dances. For me this kind of music do the best performance, and if I were a musician I like to do that, because I love dance and make difficult choreographies.
I think the music influence moods, because when someone is sad listen cheerful music makes the persons feel better, and sometimes the music make you remember moments, for example I always remember when was a child and my grandmother sang to me “die entchen”, when I was in the school my friends and I dance the spice girls songs and when we had to do the choreographies of cheerleaders

TRANSANTIAGO > BEFORE AND AFTER

I didn’t like the pre-Transantiago system, actually, I hated it. The buses was very old, noisy and not reliable. Nonetheless, I don’t like the new system, the truth is I hate the public transport in general. Although I think Transantigo has better buses that the older system, but at the beginning the implementation of Transantiago was terrible, because the buses were crowded all the time, and because of this the buses didn’t stop in the bus stop. For me that was the worst episode in the history of public transport. In that time it took me two or half and hour went to the university from my house. Now the same journey takes just one hour or 45 minutes.
Now I prefer the Transantiago system than the pre-Transantiago, because now the buses are new, more comfortable, safe and the drivers are friendlier. Before the buses were awful, very old, sometime they were break and the drivers competed against each others.
I prefer the actual system and I think it has improved since the beginning of the implementation. Although I think the system could be better than now. Like:
· In the peak hour is necessary to put more buses.
· The buses sometimes pass all together and after the people have to wait a lot of time to take the other bus. For this is necessary to have a horary for the bus in each bus stop.
· Is necessary make again some routes.

A COUNTRY I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT

I would like to go to Mexico, because I think this country has a lot of interesting places. In this country I would like to visit the Mayan pyramids and the beautiful beaches like Ribera Maya, Playa Del Carmen and Cancun. Since I was a kid I have loved the beach and they are the gorgeous, on the other hand, Mayan Pyramids are a culture legacy, for example Chichen Itza is a large pre-Columbian archaeological site built by the Maya civilization located in the northern center of the Yucatán Peninsula, the site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, from what is called “Mexicanized” and reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico to the Puuc style found among the Puuc Maya of the northern lowlands.
In Mexico I would do different things depending on the place, for example at the beach I mentioned before, you can swim with dolphins, do snorkeling, diving and other water sports. I really like do these things but on the other hand I must know about the Mayan and Aztecs remains.
About these places I only know what my mom and grandparents told to me and the things I read about Mayan culture. I’m really interested in big civilization of America like Incas, Aztecs and Mayas. In my last summer holidays I visited Machu picchu, so I need to know the two latter.
For me Mexico is for fun, I don’t want to study, work or live there, in these aspects I have other plans. Most probably I will go to study to Europe or USA, and then come back to Chile to work.
